Abhiram Bhadkamkar graduated from the National School of Drama specialising in acting. Currently, he is an actor, director and writer in both Hindi and Marathi films and plays. ‘Hasat Khelat’, ‘Pahuna’, ‘Jyacha Tyacha Prashna’, ‘Ladi Najaria’, ‘Dehbhan’, and ‘Sukhanshi’ are some of his major works performed by reputed theatre groups all over Maharashtra and Delhi. He was recently declared a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award as a playwright and winner of the literature award of Maharashtra Government in 1994, 1995 and 2005. ‘Chudail’ is a collection of short stories that received an award from Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad, as best short story collection. ‘Asa Balgandharva…’ is a biographical novel of legendary actor-singer Balgandharv that received H N Apte Best Novel award by Sahitya Parish Pune, Kesari, Maratha trust Best Novel Award. ‘Aamhi asu laadke’ – a film written and directed by Abhiram was officially selected for the New York Independent International Film Festival and screened in Nov 2006 in New York and in Harrisburg.
