Alok Rajwade is an Indian actor, director, singer and painter. He has appeared in Marathi and Hindi films, and experimental plays. Rajwade’s first major play was in Abhraham Lincolnche Patra (a Marathi adaptation of Abraham Lincoln’s Letter). He was one of the founding members of the Natak Company based in Pune. Rajwade acted and directed numerous plays with the Natak Company. Geli Ekvees Varsha, a play directed by Rajwade, was nominated for an International Theatre Festival in Italy and also won the award for Best Play. For his role in the play Dalan, Rajwade won the Thespo’s award for Best Supporting Actor. His first role as a protagonist in a Marathi film was in the critically acclaimed Vihir, a film directed by Umesh Kulkarni. In 2014, Rajwade played the role of Madhavrao I in the Marathi period film Rama Madhav, directed by Mrinal Kulkarni. Kaasav won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film at the 64th National Film Awards and Rajwade who played the protagonist also won the Best Actor Award in the BRICS Film Festival 2017.
