K Satchidanandan

K.-SatchidanandanK Satchidanandan is a well-known Malayalam poet, bilingual critic, and translator. He has been honoured with several literary awards such as the Indian National Academy Award, Knighthood of the Order of Merit from the Government of Italy, and India-Poland Friendship Medal from the government of Poland. He has held office as the Secretary of Sahitya Akademi and the Director of the School of Translation Studies in Delhi.

Internationally recognised as one of the finest contemporary poets, Satchidanandan’s works have been translated to many languages, including English, Irish, Arabic, French, German and Italian. Besides working as an editor of important literary journals such as Indian Literature, he has edited 12 works in English and 8 in Malayalam.  His latest book, The Missing Ribs, a collection of poems written over several decades (1973-2015), has been published in 2016.
