Dr. Nalini J Thampi has been teaching French language and civilisation as well as francophone literatures for more than 35 years. She has many publications to her credit, specially on women writing amongst others. She has also collaborated in the Dictionnaire Français – Hindi of S. Sadasivan, published by Orient Blackswan in 2009. At Paris, she was a laureate in 1995 of the programme telecast on TV5, Questions Pour Un Champion, and in 2000, of the Dictée Bernard Pivot.
After having taught 8 years at the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages in Hyderabad (now called English and Foreign Languages University ), since 1992, she works at the Pondicherry University. She is presently the Head of the Dept. of French, and the first woman Dean of the School of Humanities. She also coordinates the Study India Programme, and the exchanges between the Pondicherry University and the Université Lumière de Lyon 2, as well as the Université Michel de Montaigne de Bordeaux 3 and the Université de Panthéon, Sorbonne.
