Shivarama Padikkal is a professor at Hyderabad Central University. His research interests centre on translation studies, interdisciplinary studies, and cultural studies. His PhD thesis Nadu Nudiya Roopaka, studies early Kannada literature including popular literature, to see the way literature imagines and constructs linguistic state. Some of his important works are, ‘Colonialism, Nationalism and the Question of Early Modern Kannada Literature’, ‘Empire writes Back? Kannada Travel Fiction and Nationalist Discourse’, ‘Translating Tragedy in Kannada’.
