Starting as a serious writer of short stories during the early eighties she has written short stories, poetry, fiction, reminiscences, essays, children’s plays, and translations. Her books are published by almost all prestigious publications of Karnataka, (like Manohara Granthamala, Christ College Kannada Sangha, Kannada Sangha Puttur etc.,) mostly by Akshara prakashana, Heggodu. Her childrens’ plays have been staged successfully at Neenaasam, Heggodu, in Rangayana directed by the great theatre stalwart B.V. Karanth and others. Vaidehi’s stories are well crafted and are generally centred on finely portrayed female characters. Some of her selected stories have been translated into several Indian languages including English and her stories are successfully staged by several theatre groups of India.
