This year MILAP will host a three-day Theatre Appreciation Workshop curated and designed by Akshara K V and Prasad Vanarase.
Akshara K V is an award-winning director, playwright and writer, who presently heads Ninasam in Heggodu, Karnataka. Prasad Vanarase is a celebrated director and theatre educator and is the founder-director of the International Association for Performing Arts and Research.
The workshop aims at being an introduction to the theatre medium, with focus on Kannada and Marathi theatre traditions. Practitioners and scholars from Marathi and Kannada theatre will lead the sessions. The sessions will include meeting with practitioners, short presentations, engaged performances and watching and discussing plays. Though there will be a few hands-on sessions, the workshop is primarily designed as a programme to develop appreciation. As it is designed as a comprehensive experience, all participants are required to attend all the sessions during the day including the evening performances.
Dates of the festival: 6, 7 and 8 September, 2018
Place: Manipal, Karnataka
Eligibility: We invite applications from early career theatre practitioners, and scholars. Students with a sustained interest, and exposure to theatre are also invited to apply.
