Youth Events

m.i.l.a.p. in association with Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal hosts a series of Youth Events for the benefit of student community.


Day 1: Street Play by MIT Students

Members of Aaina Dramatics, MIT Manipal would perform a street play on creating awareness about superstitions and need to reexamine the beliefs around superstitions in India.

Day 2: Rashomon (Drama)

Members of ADA, MIT, Manipal  in association with Betaal would perform a Hindi adaptation of the eponymous Japanese film Rashomon from 1950 using the features the art form of the region ‘Yakshagana’.  Directed by Abhinav Grover, an alumnus of MIT and former student of The Drama School of Mumbai, the drama deals with the same event being given contradictory interpretations by different individuals involved.

Day 3: Rorschach Touch (Contemporary Dance Show)

Rorschach Touch  is a contemporary dance show that has been choreographed by Diya Naidu and produced by Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan Bangalore. It is an exploration of perception in the context of gendered bodies, but with the wish to go beyond gendered limitations. The performance, which gets its name from the famous Thematic Apperception Test by Henry A. Murray and Christiana D. Morgan, hopes to ask the viewer: How do you see?

m.i.l.a.p. Short Film Contest

m.i.l.a.p. provides a platform for the budding artists among the student community of Manipal University to showcase their creative genius in short film making. Each short film must be of a maximum 10 minutes in duration and should be created by the student community.

The Best m.i.l.a.p. Short Film receives a cash award of Rs. 15,000. Five top short films will be selected for screening on 17 September 2017 in the presence of esteemed judges.
